

Gary was born in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Harlan, and the late Edna Mae (Wallace) Harris, and grew up in Lakewood, CO. He is survived by cousins Jo (Russell) Hart of Blue Grass, IA and Linda (Blaine) Scriven of Iowa City, IA, and his aunt, Ruthetta Wilson of Davenport, IA.
Gary will be sadly missed by his dear friends, Donald and Linley Conroy of Hollidaysburg, PA; Kevin and Juanita Conroy and family of York, PA; Joseph Conroy of Hyattsville, MD; Dennis Conroy of Gettysburg, PA; Scott Ballard of Clear Spring MD; Joy Ballard of Winchester, KS; and Jack and Sheila Larkin of Austin, TX and their family, all of whom knew and loved him. Gary was a good and loyal friend.
Gary held chemical engineering and business degrees from University of CO and started work at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., in 1962, as a chemical engineer. He then transferred to the Washington Navy Yard and worked there as a Quality Assurance Engineer until his retirement in 1992.
His hobbies included driving for the Red Cross, and helping with the Hughes United Methodist Church yearly auctions. He also enjoyed train travel, exploring new restaurants, and using the computer to stay in touch with friends.
He will be interred at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO, on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11:00 am.
