Genevieve “Gen” Ingwersen 89, passed away December 16, 2018 in Northglenn. Gen Geiger was born June 8, 1929 in Denver, where she grew up and graduated from South High School in 1948. She attended the University of Colorado majoring in music education where she met Don Ingwersen, her husband for 56 years.
Gen was a stay-at-home mom until her kids were grown. She then worked as a school secretary at Johnson Elementary in southwest Denver until her retirement in 1995. She was an avid reader and loved to knit and crochet. Among her greatest joys were gardening and growing roses with Don.
Gen and Don enjoyed family vacations every summer. They piled the kids in the station wagon and traveled all over the country! Many weekends were spent with close friends at the Pinecliff cabin and later on at the cabin they built in 1969 near Bailey. After the kids were gone, they joined the Ports of Call travel club and took many international trips.
Surviving are her children, Jill Wilson of Brighton, and Jim (Michele) of Larkspur. She is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Scott Wilson, Kristi Warner (Jason), Chelsea Kot (Aaron), and Ryan Ingwersen (Liz). Her eight great grandchildren are Joseph, Bryan, Chloe and Ryker Warner, Brenner Wilson, Sophie Kot, Aria and Lili Ingwersen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Ingwersen and her son David Ingwersen.
Despite her declining health and abilities, she rarely complained and was well liked by her caregivers. She retained a strong sense of humor and child-like joy in simple pleasures.
Gen, as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend…you were loved.
