Geraldine “Gerry” Louise Mathie (Hodgson), 95, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her home on March 1, 2026. A celebration of life service will take place at Serenity Pointe, the main chapel at Olinger Funeral Home at Crown Hill, 29th & Wadsworth on Friday, April 3rd at 11am. Visitation is from 10-11am followed by the service, then internment at the Tower of Memories on the same property.
Gerry was born in her beloved small town of Minnedosa, Manitoba, Canada on April 24, 1930, the youngest of four girls, Peggy, Dorothy and Jean. She would often reminisce of her idyllic childhood, dances and spending summer at her family’s cabin at nearby Clear Lake. She would go on to attend business school, enjoying work as a secretary even after moving to Toronto as a newlywed. In 1967, her family took the brave step to relocate to the United States and moved to Arvada. She loved her years of volunteering at Lutheran Hospital as well as in her church office. She also enjoyed golfing, crafting, gardening, and rooting for local sports teams, especially hockey.
Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and their son, Doug. She is survived by her daughter Diane Crawford (Joe), four grandchildren: Andrew (Bernadette), Megan, Scott (Kelby), and Kelsey. It was a blessing for her to meet her two great grandchildren, Arlo Anne and Ames Murdoch.
Gerry was known for being a bright, happy, cheerful person who loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Memories of her will always bring a smile!
Friends and family are invited to Olinger Funeral Home at Crown Hill on April 3, 2026, at 11am. For more information or to send condolences or flowers, please visit their website.
