Glen was born in Lamar, CO, youngest of three with two older sisters. He moved to a farm as a child near Meeker, CO. During The Great Depression, he moved to New Castle, CO, where he became quite the outdoorsman; fishing and hunting.
He served two years in the Navy when he was 18 and was a radioman on a submarine. After the Navy, he met his wife, Mary, at the Big Ward's on Broadway while she was skating around filling order. They kind of just bumped into each other and it was love for 60 years until Mary's passing in 2009.
Glen became a printer and decorator as a Union job for Craftsman. He got into square and rounding dancing. He became a sought after caller and instructor throughout the Denver Metro area and performed many gigs around the country. He started up several dance clubs and a camping club where they traveled around Colorado and once a year would travel the country where he would do his calling. He built a dance hall behind his house big enough for four squares and was an instructor for many years teaching couples square and round dancing.
He loved camping and most summers almost every weekend he was camping somewhere with his group of friends in his truck and camper. He did a lot of traveling abroad as well, seeing many historic sites in Europe and the Caribbean. He was a winter Texan for 14 years after retirement, traveling around in his big motor home, while still calling on weekend nights.
He settled down in Windsor Gardens in 1995 and became a very good golfer. He played in several Bridge groups at Windsor Gardens. After his wife Mary passed in 2009, he found a couple girlfriends and was with Johnnie until he passed Easter evening.
He was a well like man and would help anybody in need. He will be remembered as a great guy with very high standards and morals.
Survived by sister Jean, son Duane, five grandchildren and six grandchildren.
May he rest in peace after his dreadful last month with several ailments.
Gone but not forgotten.
