Glenn passed away at the age of 94, June 9, 2022, after a long and meaningful life near his home in Morrison, CO. Multiple organ failure and old age were the primary causes of his death. He is survived by his wife, Doris of 76 years, and his children Steve, Rich, Teresa, and Suzy. He also had two predeceased daughters, Linda and Janie. Glenn’s family also included grandchildren Valerie, Chris, Ross, Andre, Alysha, Nicole, Camille, and Estelle, and great grandchildren Alijah, Alyanna, Kaviarasan, and Manohar. Two of Glenn’s siblings, Jackie and Elroy, are still living along with a large extended family.
Glenn was born on November 25, 1927, in Charlotte, NC as the oldest child of John and Stella Adams. The family moved around the country and put their roots deep in Colorado because they loved the Rocky Mountain water! Glenn graduated from Denver’s Garden Home High School in 1945 and met Doris, his bride to be, right before his senior year at a picnic and horseback riding church function. They enjoyed dances, sporting events, youth activities, and family games as their relationship flourished. After graduation he attended Denver University before enlisting in the Army. His basic training was at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and he promptly married Doris on his first leave on March 30, 1946, at University Park Methodist Church. While he served, the newlywed couple was stationed in Tacoma, WA. After serving for 18 months, they moved back to Denver and started their family with firstborn daughter, Linda, in 1947.
Starting out after his service in the Army, Glenn worked for his dad as an upholsterer in Denver, CO. Glenn was always entrepreneurial and industrious and worked as a home builder in addition to his work as an upholsterer. Another addition to his career came when he rezoned and built apartment homes in SW Denver in 1958. He owned and operated them for over 40 years providing comfortable housing for many Coloradans. For the past 45 years Glenn resided in Morrison, CO, with his wife Doris, and had a vacation home in Arizona where he enjoyed sunshine and beautiful scenery.
Everything in Glenn’s life revolved around his family dedication and the couple had six children spanning 25 years in ages. A healthy work life balance was important to him, and that meant many family gatherings for every occasion along with frequent road trips exploring the country. He was fondly known as “The King of the Road” by family members. Glenn will always be remembered as a joyful and uplifting husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. Glenn’s strong faith and legacy of love will carry us through until we meet again in Heaven.
