Herman J. Urban died on Tuesday December 23, 2025, at the age of 93, in Lakewood, Colorado. He was born January 17, 1932, in Garden City, KS, the son of Jacob A. Urban and Ludwina (Befort) Urban. He was one of seven children. He grew up in Kansas and then moved and lived in the Denver, Colorado area. He served in the Army during the Korean Police Action (1951 – 1954) and attained the rank of Corporal. He worked as a Folding Press Operator for the printing company, Hirschfeld Press. He enjoyed travelling and being a “rockhound” and was also involved in the Knights of Columbus at All Saints Church.
Herman is survived by three siblings (Jim Urban, Maxine Erbert, and Ruby Mauer), two daughters (Bernadette Byrd, Susan Byrd), and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three wives (Geraldine, Margaret, and Elizabeth), one daughter (Karen), and three siblings (Marvis Urban, Cecil Urban, and Mildred Menke).
Services will be held on Monday January 5, 2026, at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery (7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033). Visitation will be at 11:00 am, Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, and Graveside Service at 2:00 pm. A Reception will follow the graveside service at 3:00 pm.
Herman lived a good life and was loved by many.
