Irvin served in the U.S. Marine Corp branch of the military from 1953 to 1956, before he entered the U.S. Coast Guard. After the military, Irvin worked for the Denver Sheriff’s Department, where he retired after 34 years at the rank of Captain. Irvin married his wife, Sylvia, on November 20th, 1965, and enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage while raising three sons, David, Christopher, and Stephen.
Irvin was a character and truly one of a kind. No matter where he went, Irvin could always make a friend. He loved to tell jokes and share stories to anyone who would listen. He was famous for his way of saying goodbye. “Just remember, somebody loves you. And when we find out who, we’ll warn them!”
Irvin was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his three children, David (Stephanie), Christopher (Kristen), and Stephen (Holly), and his five grandchildren, Kierstin, Conner, Katelyn, Elizabeth, and Alexis.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28th, 2021, at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 10 o’clock a.m. with a reception to follow at Knights of Columbus, 2950 W. Mississippi Ave.
