Well James here it is one year later and I'm finally finding the courage to write to you... It almost feels like the night of your viewing all over again. Just like that night I couldn't make myself go in that room and accept the fact that I don't have my little brother here on earth with me anymore. If not for the strength of your Mom and Dad I don't know that I would have gone in because frankly I'm just not as strong as you are. I have been exposed to my share of untimely deaths and grief stricken situations, but the loss of you took a piece of me with you. I struggle even now with tears on my cheeks and in my eyes to understand how fair it is for you to be gone. Every time that I talk to my son and see his face I am reminded of you through him. I make a point of it to call him by his first and middle name to remember you. Just two nights ago while in conversation with Tyler he asked me "Dad, do you remember my fourth birthday?" Of course I do I told him, and he explained proceeded to tell me about the entire weekend; who was there (Aunt Avis, Uncle Ron, Jeremy, Kim, and everyone else. But, what touched me most was how he saved his favorite part for the end when he said "and James slept with me in my room... I miss him Dad..." My eyes filled up with tears of both sadness and joy; because not only do I miss the hell out of you, but I know that your memory will always live on with him, your nephews, and as a part the name he shares with you. Both Taylor and Tyler loved you James. Come to think of it I don't know of any kid who wasn't drawn to you through your spirit. I'm not sure if it is because you never forgot how to be a kid, through the good times and the bad. As an Uncle you were "Tops", I can't imagine that there was a better Uncle out there than you were to those boys. You showed us all how it was done; you set "the" standard. Thankfully I won't have to live up to that as an uncle, because Brandi still refuses to have kids.  I know that you are looking in on us all, and I ask that you never stop placing your hands on the shoulders of those that you love. I know that I need your strength now more than ever. I don't know how to say goodbye James, and as history has shown I wouldn't have the fortitude to say it to you anyway. So, I leave you with this and I think I speak for Jeremy too... in the immortal words sung by "The Hollies"  "he ain't heavy he's my brother..."  I love you James.

I can't believe you have been gone a year.  I still dream that you are here and how we call the doctor to tell  him we knew you were going to beat the cancer.  I guess you did just not in this world.  I think of you often and wish I could still talk to you and tell all about the boys.  You were a great uncle, and your nephews are so fortunate to have had you in their lives. I have nothing but fond memories of you.  I wish I had more time with you and hope I let you know how much I loved you.  I look back on the pictures of us as kids and remember the times we played Care Bears or would listen to the Bible stories Grandma and Grandpa gave us at night.  I would give anything to go back and play with you again and to give you one more hug. You were always a loving, trusting, and forgiving person.  Your struggle was an inspirtation to so many of us because you went through it with hope, dignity, and bravery.  It is hard, but I try and find peace with your passing, look for understanding that God had a reason for it, and seek what we are supposed to learn from this situation.  I pray that you are now at peace and are doing well.  I know you are with us in spirit.  I ask that you continue to watch over us all and help guide your nephews by sending them wisdom as they age.  I miss you everyday and love you more than I can express.  Even though I can't see you, I know you and the other members of our family are there watching from above and can feel our love and send yours in return.  Thank you for being one of the best little brothers a girl could ask for.

Little Brother,

It has been a year now since you passed and I still wait for you to call me in the morning after you dropped Will off at school.  As always, I have been putting off writing on your wall because it is still hard for me to think of you as gone.  Well, this is the last day it will be up so the procrastination period is over.  You were a very special person and I couldn't have asked for a better brother, even that though there were times I might have wished that, when we were kids.  You were a great Uncle as well.  Every time I look at your nephews, I can see a part of you in them as you have inspired some part of each and every one of them.  I will keep telling them stories of you, I will try to only tell the good, and how you are an inspiration to all of us.  You were truly a fighter and by watching you keep your spirits up and still have compassion for those that came to visit you, was amazing.  You have taught me and my family that life is short and we need to treasure each and every day we get to spend together.  There is so much more I want to say to you but all I can think of is that I loved you and miss you very much.  I will continue to swing by and bring the family with me, so we can talk about how much you impacted our lives and just say hi.  I know you are now at peace and until we meet again, God Bless.

Your Big Brother

Well, James it's been a year already. Hard to believe. Last night was I was up all night walking around, thinking of how much you are missed and what I would say to you if you were here. I tried to think of how I would try to defend Tebow's game against the Patriots. How your Spurs are going to do in the shortened NBA season. And who is going to get your Dodger's and if my twinkies are going to get past the yankees. I miss you everday, your ability to get me to calm down about your Mom and sharing our frustrations with the women we love. I miss the frequent calls at all hours to see what I'm doing are here and the promise to see me soon. I am moving on, but there is that scar on my heart that has not healed. I know that you are not hurting anymore and are at peace. I look forward to when I can see you again in glory, share our laughs together. Love you always.

Dearest Son: It is hard to believe it has been a year since your passing. Your Dad and I were there for your first breath and cry and there for your last. It seems like yesterday we were so joyous to have a new child. Full of love,life and laughter. You had such pretty blue eyes and soft fuzzy blonde hair. I never imagined your time here on earth would be cut so short. God had other plans for us all. We had to give you, to realize how precious life is. You taught us all about strenght, courage and bravery. you also, taught us how precious life is; not to take even the smallest things for granted. I can never thank you enough for the unconditional love you gave me and your family and friends. You always had a way with your smile to bring happiness and encouragement to any situation. You always saw the good in all, even when you had that ray of hope in your battle with cancer. You never gave up hope even to the end. I know God had bigger plans for us all. I know you loved your family,especially your unconditional love for your nephews. That was a such a big part of your world. They love you deeply. I hope you have a blessed Christmas in Heaven with your heavenly family. Son I can never thank you for all you taught me this past year. I love and miss you very much. Dear James,
It is December 19th 2011 and I am thinking about where I was 1 year ago to the moment... I was with you in your final hours and I close my eyes and it could be happening right now. I rembember every moment as if it were happening right now.  I want to tell you how much I love you! I know there had to be fear knowing what was happening yet you were so thoughtful of everyones feeling, It broke my heart to see you believe that at some moment a miracle would happen and things would work out and you would be ok. James you were a believer and you made others believe.  I Think about your struggle ...and They don't make movies as sad as how bravely and honorably you fought your battle, with never a cruel word about your fate.  I feel you were cheated out of life by cancer, you were just finding your way, you found love and you found a family whom you adored and I know you made a difference in Paula's, Jazmine's and Will's life and I know they will never forget you... but I truly don't think you realize how many peoples life you touched mine being one of them I am honored that you are next to Steve Jr. and I truly hope there is a connection in the next life and you and Steve are having a quite a time together. Dear James, 
This year has flown by, but not a day goes by that I don't think you!! I find myself remembering childhood memories that I thought we had forever to remember together. The thunderstorm in Ruidoso always comes to mind....I am amazed at how fast you and I ran out of the woods at the mear sound of thunder, leaving Chris and Sherran behind to eat our dust!! When I hear thunder today I smile and yes it still scares me...just a little. Back then time seemed endless and that life would just simply keep going! 
  Life does keep going, just in a different manner. I pray that as my life continues, that the choices I make will make you proud. When I look at pictures of you, I see my twin, right down to our blonde hair and blue eyes. You always had just the right thing to say to make any day better. 
I never once heard you complain about being sick and I keep that in mind when I think life is getting too hard. If you could bear that burden, then I can get thru the rough times too! 
Dec. 20th is the day that you left us and will forever hold a place in our hearts. I pray that the angels know how lucky they are to be in your presence! 
May your Christmas in heaven be filled with joy and laughter and tons of wonderful food, that I know you cooked!! Please continue to shine your light along my path so that I don't get lost!!!!!!!

My heart crumbles when I think of the tragic loss of our dear James, how must it hurt to be an even closer relation to him than I. 
I remember the month before the news that James was sick. I went to the Chili festival and ate too many chilis, Avis was right there to heal the burn with chili ice cream. She is such a care taker, and I can only imagine the sorrow of watching her very own son in so much pain and feeling so helpless. But James was a wonderful guy, and his parents did the job of instilling what he needed most. They taught him about Jesus and how to love. Time moves too fast and too slow, loss like this gives time a new meaning. What is life really all about? In a time where hate spreads like fire over the media, trying to cause civil war and other distruction, I can only hope that now we will open our hearts to love. Love all others, live each day building our hearts back up. For hate is painful, turn the TV off, seek truth and find the reason for it all. Turn away from demons who offer temperary pain relief. Reflect back at each moment so that we may see that it all has meaning, and purpose. Miracles come at the hardest of times. I am still in denial at this loss, but my heart has been softened and I have learned that family is so important. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for any of you.

James. Words can't express the wonderful memories I will always carry with me of you. The days you spent at the house in Las Colinas. You always brought a smile to my face. Your ability to tell a joke was great. My deepest and sincerest sympathies go to the Beich's. James was a true joy to me.

James, Thank you for allowing me to share your last hours.. I will never forget how you didn't want to go... How you didn't understand how you finally find your life and your family and you couldn't stay to love and enjoy them. I saw your suffering and it broke my heart, I wish I could understand what or who had to learn from your suffering,  But I won't and can't understand why a soul as pure as yours had to go through such pain.  I guess I need your help now.  James!!! I love you and pray you are now at peace. God Bless You James!

James, as Mark said, we have the memories,great times from church trips, and the goofy stuff we did on those trips that evolved into good friendships. Every so often I go back through the pictures from those days and just chuckle about the experiences had. You will always be remembered and the memories had will last forever.

Dear Uncle Ron and Aunt Avis,

I will always remember James as a little boy that loved to chase Jeremy and I around the house in Ruidoso Downs. His smile and bright blue eyes always made the room shine brighter and I will never forget the many wonderful memories we shared when we all lived on the mountain. James always found a way to make all of us laugh when we sat around as a big family and visited. Although many years have passed since our youth his memory will forever be linked to my childhood. Very grateful to have known James.  I don't ever remember seeing him without a smile on his face, although I saw him be mischevious plenty of times.  Wish there was something we could do to ease the hurt that is left behind.  But I know that it hurts because you loved him so deeply.  That is worth celebrating, and so is James.

What a pair James and Jamie were    Although they were mischievous, they were never good at denying  they’d been  up to something.  I could read it all over their faces. One day when they were in middle school , I came home and found them acting suspicious I knew they’d been up to something.   When I asked them what they’d been doing I got the same reply, “nothing mom” “nothing Carolann”.  

I was walking to my bedroom.  I looked up.  To my surprise there was a blob of peanut butter above my door.  As I yelled  “James” (for both of them!) they  came running down the hall . When I asked them what happened the reply was “ we were just having a peanut butter fight.” It was hard to stay mad.   I had to contain my laughter!  

No matter how much trouble they got into, we were always blessed to have James at our house. He was part of our family
 
Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.  Thanks you for sharing James with us.  May all your memories and the high regard everyone had for him,  give you strength and comfort during this time.  It was so great to  see him as a grown up at Jamie’s wedding.  .  He was a wonderful man

As you know, I am the oldest of your girl cousins.  So being, I had the distinct priviledge and honor of being chosen by your parents to be the "night shift babysitter."  What wonderful, soft edged memories I have of holding you perched on my shoulder, patting your back, gently rocking back and forth and singing Sweet Baby James to you until you fell asleep.  As a baby you were happy, cheerful, sweet and loving.  I grew up, got married, moved away and missed out on your youth.  But when I started having babies, the thought never escaped me that you were the one to show me the way.  I often thought of you as I sang to my babies.  I was pleased, but not surprised, to discover your loving personality remained the same throughout your sickness.  When I spoke to you the Thurday night before your surgery, your entire focus and concern was for a person you love and your need and desire to help another.  You were an example to me in the fresh beginnings of your life as you have been an example of courage and strength at the end.  Again, you have shown me the way.  You will remain in my thoughts forever-

There are no words to express what I feel and what I feel for you all right now. James was a wonderful person who always made me laugh. My fondest memories are of him and Jamie playing together and always accidentally finding ways to get in trouble together. Jamie is my only brother, however growing up as his little sister I always felt like I had two brothers because these two were always together and I always admired and wanted to be around them both. I will cherish the beautiful memories I have of him and of us joking around at Jamie's wedding (I walked with him down the aisle so we jokingly called ourselves the "Bike Tire/ Beich Tirre" gang ). I continue to pray for all of you and everyone who loved and cared for him. He truly has a special place in my heart.

To all who have loved and now have lost James,
I only met him at the beginning of his courageous battle, but with each admittance it begin to feel as if I had known him forever. Such a kind, compassionate and caring soul. I know your loss is tremendous, for he was a tremendous young man. I hope you find peace in your memories and comfort in your time of need. It was an honor to have had him grace my life, as well as those of you I was lucky to have met. I will hold the potato pancake recipe near and dear to my heart..... sworn to secrecy.

By some stroke of luck, James was my first friend. 

We met in first grade. Since then, James blessed me (and plenty others) with his humor, companionship and zest for life -- especially during our childhood. I always admired his heart and creativity. 

James always had something. Some game. Some scheme. Some adventure. He made it fun to be a sidekick.

So many memories flood into my mind. As we grew older, we didn't talk as much. Five years ago, I called James out of the blue, hoping he'd be in my wedding but unsure because of the lapse. I will never forget the excitement in his voice. It was like elementary school again. James was always loyal.

I want to thank James' family, especially Ron and Avis, for raising such a great friend. James influenced, and supplied happy memories for so many. I hope that provides some measure of comfort during a time of such profound loss.

Dear James:  words can not express how much you meant to me and how much I love you!!! I will always have the memories of you coming to my house in the middle of the night and waking me up just to talk, while your truck was struck out in the desert. I never knew how much I would miss that. I am so grateful for being able to spend this last week with you!! I know that you would have done the same! I am sorry that I could not sneak you out the back door like you asked, I would have found a way if I only know how long the stairs where that you had to climb during those last few days.  Hey James please dont worry about your mom and dad...clint and I will take care of them until they are with you again! To the Friends and Family of James Beich,

I am deeply saddened by the news of James. I am so very sorry. Although we had not seen eachother in a few years, his passing will not only leave a void in MY life, but also in the hearts of all those who knew him.

This must be very difficult for you. Please remember that you are in my thoughts and my prayers.

I know you will miss him very much as we all will. I know that James will be remembered for the great guy that he was. I hope the precious memories of him will one day bring you comfort. I will cherish my great memories of our childhood and time together. I will never forget all the wonderful times we had. And I'm sure that he would want all of us to celebrate the good life that he had. We can all be thankful that we had him in our lives. And Im Happy to have been able to call James my friend.
