James spent his formative years in Burundi, Africa, where his parents served as missionaries, fostering his early exposure to a life of purpose and compassion. This unique upbringing profoundly influenced his values and character.
Upon returning to Colorado at the age of 18, James enlisted in the United States Army, honorably serving during the Vietnam War. His tenure included roles as a courier and tank mechanic, where he exemplified diligence and commitment. Following his honorable discharge, James returned to Denver and married Deboria ("Debbie") White, establishing a steadfast partnership that endured until her passing.
James pursued a distinguished career as a mechanic and flight inspector at Frontier Airlines, earning respect for his technical expertise and professionalism. Despite his career achievements, his greatest pride lay in his family. Together with Debbie, he raised three children—Amanda, Charles, and J.J.—imparting to them the virtues of integrity, perseverance, and loyalty.
In addition to his professional and familial commitments, James was an avid fisherman, a skilled woodworker, and a devoted member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, where he actively participated throughout his life. His retirement years were devoted to cherished moments with his family and the joy of watching his grandsons, Daniel and Ethan, grow and thrive.
James is survived by his children Amanda (Danny) Bedoy, Charles (Mariah) Lee, and J.J. Lee; his grandsons Daniel and Ethan Bedoy; and his sister Linnea (Mark) Dill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mayvor Lee; his wife, Debbie; his sister, Carol; and his brother, Greg.
James will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, profound humility, and enduring faith. His life was a testament to service and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service to honor James’s life and legacy will be held at Beth Eden Baptist Church at 10:30 am. All are invited to join in commemorating his remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in James’ name to Beth Eden Baptist Church in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
