Jaime was born on March 25, 1927 to Julian Ovalle and Luz Garcia Ovalle.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Antonia Rodarte-Ovalle. Also proceeded by his sister Tomasa Ovalle-Haro (Gregorio).
As a youth Jaime was close to Tomasa’s three children, Juan (deceased), Virginia (Virgy) and Moses. Jaime had many fine memories of his niece and nephews.
When Jaime married Antonia (Toni) he inherited a large family as she had seven children from a previous marriage. This made absolutely no difference to him as he accepted all of her family without reservation. With these seven came numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a few great, great grandchildren. Whenever any of the family would visit, he was always happy and gracious. Jaime always had a story to tell and his sense of humor was disarming and wry. The stories he would tell of the adventures with Antonia would have us in stitches! He loved to reminisce about his younger days growing up in the Curtis park, five points neighborhood. He could still remember the names of his buddies and events that occurred at the time.
At the age of eighteen Jaime joined the U.S. Army and was shipped to the Pacific Campaign during WWll. He was classified as a rifleman and HazMat technician. Jaime was immensely proud of his contribution as a warrior during this conflict. The younger generation sat captivated listening to his stories of searching the island caverns to locate and destroy hidden arms and munitions stockpiled there by the enemy. His job was also to locate land mines and disarm them.
After the war Jaime returned and was employed by the Gates Rubber Co. which he retired from after forty plus years. While at Gates Jaime would take night classes to educate himself on computers. He then worked for Chess Inc., a printer repair company.
Jaime was always trying to educate himself especially when it came to history. Especially Hispanic history. He was always reading in both English and Spanish. His other passion was watching pro wrestling with Alan, Antonia’s son. The two of them lived together during his final years. Just a couple of retired guys looking forward to Friday night smackdown! As Jaime was fortunate to have Alan as a caregiver, Alan was extremely fortunate to be with Jaime to the last.
