AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Jan Vincent Swinney

9 juillet 1935 – 22 mars 2020
Avis de décès de Jan Vincent Swinney
AUX SOINS DE

Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Crown Hill

Jan Vincent Swinney passed away at home on Sunday, March 22nd at 84 years old. He was born in Vernon, Texas on July 9th, 1935 to James and Mary Swinney. He moved to Denver where he met Beverly Swinney and they were happily married for 58 years. After time spent on the Denver police force and then the Army, they moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois where they spent the next 25 years for Vince to be an airline pilot for United Airlines, eventually retiring as a 747 Captain. During that time, Vince was active at the Cardinal Drive Church of Christ as its youth minister, and later a deacon and elder. In 1991, Vince and Bev moved to Abilene, Texas where he worked for Abilene Christian University in the College of Business Administration, first in development and later as an adjunct professor. In addition to being active at the school, Vince served as an elder at the Highland Church of Christ and a board member, Chairman of the Board, and Interim President of Herald of Truth Ministries in Abilene. In 2010, Beverly and Vincent returned to Colorado to be closer to family where Vince was able to attend numerous track meets, baseball, basketball and football games to cheer on his grandchildren. Vince’s faith in Jesus was a constant throughout his life. His kindness was a blessing to those around him; from the lives he impacted as a volunteer youth minister, to his time in the classroom at ACU and in his final days at Balfour Assisted Living where he lived for the past 18 months before his passing. Vince is survived by his son, Steve Swinney, his daughter-in-law, Linda, and his grandchildren, Brianna, Josh, and Tyler of Littleton, Colorado. A celebration of Vince’s life will occur later this spring when conditions allow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Herald of Truth Ministries (heraldoftruth.org) or Abilene Christian University (acu.edu). Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Cemetery & Arboretum, Wheat Ridge, CO.
