Jan was born on January 25, 1938, in Humansville, Missouri, to Lores and Vera Ghan. She was an only child and moved with her family to Boise, Idaho, at the age of seven, where she later attended Boise High School.
In 1956, Jan met her first husband, Gerald C. Randall, and the two were married the following year. They began their life together in Pocatello, Idaho, where their first daughter, Cyndyn, was born in 1958. Shortly thereafter, they returned to Boise, where they welcomed their second daughter, Diana, in 1961.
While living in Boise, Jan worked for Mountain Bell, where she made history as the first female manager in her department. During her time there, she met her second husband, Phil Brown. They were married in 1973 and shared 52 happy years together.
After their careers with Mountain Bell, Jan and Phil embarked on an entrepreneurial path, founding Caretakers of America in Denver, Colorado, in 1985. Building on that success, they went on to establish The Homestead at Lakewood, an assisted living facility, in 1995.
Jan was a driven and accomplished businesswoman, but above all, she cherished time with her family. She found great joy in traveling, hosting visits, and nurturing lasting friendships—especially within the Evergreen, Colorado community. A talented painter, Jan created artwork that has been proudly displayed throughout her home and the homes of her family, serving as a lasting reminder of her creativity and spirit.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Diana Hancock; her son-in-law, Randall Bridge; her grandsons, Dustin Hancock, Logan Hancock, Julian Bridge, and Maxwell Bridge; and her great-grandson Weston Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phil Brown, and her daughter, Cyndyn Bridge.
Jan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
