Jeanne Aiko Turnage

Jeanne Aiko Turnage, age 86, of Westminster, Co, passed away at her home in Westminster on Friday September 6, 2019. Jeanne was born October 2, 1932 in Scottsbluff, NE and is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Gus Turnage, her sons Miki (Rose), Terry (Diane) and Kelly (Ashley), 12 grandchildren, John, Collin, Ashley (Miki), Joshua, Stephen, Travis, Alyssa, Trey (Terry), and Lindsay, Natalie, Dane, Tessa (Kelly) and 11 Great Grandchildren with 2 more due soon and her sister Elizabeth Quinlan. Jeanne was predeceased by her brothers Harvey, Alfred and Edward Miyagishima and sisters Mable Yokoe and Gladys Okawachi.

Jeanne spent her life in service to others as a nurse and civic volunteer. She graduated from Mercy Hospital Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1954 and spent thirty one years in hospitals, private Doctors offices and corporate medical departments before retiring from US West. Jeanne was also a Licensed Nurse Practitioner and received her Occupational Nurse Certificate from the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses in June, 1981. Jeanne had a long and distinguished legacy of volunteering for various Boards, Committees and Commissions in the cities of Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster working on issues such as city incorporation, planning, parks and nature and infrastructure. Recently she had been donating time, artifacts and financial resources to the Legacy of the Plains museum in Scottsbluff, NE in an effort to honor the contributions of Japanese Americans to the history of the area.

A memorial service for Jeanne will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 9:30 AM at Olinger Crown Hill, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033. A reception will occur Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A cremation will occur.
