Jennie was born on February 13, 1933, in Neosho, MO to Ted and Thelma Gleghorn. She passed away on November 19, 2020 in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Epperson, daughter Ann B. Epperson, and son Matthew A. Epperson. She is survived by son David L. Epperson (Terri), 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In early adult years, Jennie attended Cottey College, where she studied Childhood Development. Jennie and Dave married and moved to Colorado where they started their family. After a career of teaching kindergarten, Jennie worked as a Party Host for McDonalds until she retired in the mid-90s.
For several years Jennie was a tour guide at the Molly Brown House, where she and Dave participated in the Holiday Parade of Lights. This aligned perfectly with their love of antiques. She and Dave traveled the country in search of treasures for the antique shop. These travels were great times to connect with family and friends, old and new. Jennie was known by her family and friends as being very loving and kind, and many have benefited from her generosity over the years. To those closest to Jennie, they knew well that she had a tremendous sense of humor and we will all miss that infectious laugh.
Jennie was a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), P.T.A. (Parent Teacher Association), W.M.W.A. (Widowed Men and Women of America), The Red Hats and a member of the United Church of Christ-Berkeley in Denver, CO.
Due to current gathering restrictions, a "Celebration of Life" may be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jennie Lee Epperson, to Project Angel Heart or a charity of your choice.
From her Berkeley Community Church Family.
Our beloved long-time member and "pillar of the church" Jennie Epperson passed away on November 19th, due to complications from a fall. She was 87 years old. We miss her already, and it is hard to believe we will not be seeing her smiling face when we return to in-person worship sometime next year.
She is survived by her son David Epperson, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be an in-person funeral service at the Olinger Crown Hill Chapel of Peace at 11 am, Friday, November 27th. If you have Facebook, the service will be "Live Streamed" on Facebook Live as well. See the service information below for the link.
However, as many people in our Berkeley Church community will undoubtedly want to share their own reminiscences of Jennie, Berkeley Church will also be holding a service of remembrance via the computer platform Zoom on Saturday, December 5th at 11 am. We invite everyone to wear brooches or pins and/or the color red for our Zoom gathering.
