Jennifer left an indelible impression on my life. As a probation officer, she played a pivotal role in my sentencing to a federal prison. Despite the circumstances, I held great respect and admiration for her. She stood out from her peers, and I was eager to reconnect with her upon my release to share my successful rehabilitation. Regrettably, I was deeply saddened to learn of her passing after my return. I will always remember her.

Although a year has passed, I continue to have strong feelings of emptiness and sadness without Jennifer.  I think of her all the time and miss her so much.  I love you Jen and will try to be strong as you would want me to

So sad to hear of the loss of Jennifer. I remember when you guys were little . Hanging out with  you & Billy with your Dad. My family aches for all the family . I told my son just recently about your passing. He was so sad to hear this.always loved you r dad & you guys. May you rest in peace.

Some 23 years ago I received a call from Juanita Chacon asking that I write a column in the Denver Post about Jennifer Nuanes. Jennifer was in her first year at Michigan and struggling to make ends meet. NCAA scholarships don't include money for cold as hell Midwest winter clothing or an extra $20 in your pocket that you don't owe to anyone. I wrote the column and Juanita and I organized a fund raiser. When Jennifer came home for the holidays, we raised about $2000. We probably broke NCAA rules, but to us it was a family thing.
Thereafter, Jennifer and I kept in touch and it was always nice to get a card from her. 
I knew of her good work as federal probation officer, from another friend I'd once mentored who was her supervisor. From basketball to pro quality bike racing, Jennifer always gave her best. 
What she was best at, though, was being a fine person. The last time I saw her was at a New Year party and she gave me a warm affectionate hug.
She never forgot those who'd helped. Atop that list was Chris Lucero and Juanita Chacon. Compared to them, I was just a minor friendly addendum in Jennifer's life.
Jennifer was a beautiful, beautiful woman.

Jennifer Jones! I remember when we were growing up and you use to show up at St. Charles and say things to me like "You better be being good". You always schooled me on the basketball court and taught me how to slide into home plate. I always admired you growing up and always wondered what journey life had taken you and Billy on. I was saddened that our paths did not cross in this world again but I am sure we can celebrate in Heaven together when I get there. Until we meet again... To Celena, Billy and the rest of Jen's family may you be comforted by knowing she is no longer suffering. God Bless~

My heart is surprised to have read about this, I will never forget Jen and how she was the brightest young woman.  I will always remember all the late nights she helped me in high school while struggling through math.  She had the smile that would brighten the world.  Bill and Amy, I am so sorry for your loss, may the creator bring comfort to you and your family during this time of mourning.

To Celena and Jenn's friends and family, I am so honored to have know and worked with Jen, truly a bright light in my practice!  I hold her close in my heart--her example is an inspiration for me and I treasure what I have learned from her experience.  I will miss her and I know she understands everything now in the best way. To the Nuanes Family, my condolences to you all. I had the privilege of knowing Jen back during high school. I had the chance of playing basketball against her and with her on all star teams. I am so sorry for your loss. Jen was a wonderful person and I am so very glad I had the opportunity to  work with her and spend some time outside of work with her as well. Her smile and positive attitude will be missed.

I only had the chance to meet Jen a few times but always heard such amazing things about her. She had such strength and such a bright and cheery happiness. Heaven just gained one heck of a fighter. Celena you are a strong woman, care taking is not easy and you handled it with tremendous strength. Sending so much love to you and your friends/family.

Jen IRON LUNGS Nuanes will be missed by all.   Her smile lit up any room and her positive and determined attitude was an inspiration to us all.  I cannot think of anyone who did not think the world of her.  Her spirit, smile, laugh, determination, and amazing attitude will live on.  My thoughts and prayers are with Celena, Bill, and family.

It was a privilege and a blessing to have known Jennifer as a friend and coworker. I will miss her loving spirit, positive energy, and sense of humor. Celena, you were the love of her life. May you find comfort in your memories. Prayers to your family.

Please be comforted by the tremendous impact that Jennifer had on the lives of others.  Jennifer taught us so many lessons; how to smile, how to strive, how to love, and how to live.  We miss her terribly and are better people because of her.  I had the distinct pleasure of being her supervisor, but she was the true leader.
