Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth; siblings Jim, Jack, Betty, Ruth, Nick, Patricia, and Ron.
It was in Jerry's global geography class at North High School where he met the love of this life, Jackie. They were engaged at the age of 17 but when Jerry joined the Navy, they waited until they were 20 to marry, in San Diego, CA.
In 1962, Jerry was discharged from the Navy and moved back to Colorado to be with his wife and a year later, little Shannon was born and later came, Matthew in 1969 and Mark in 1971.
In 1967, he started his long career with Duffy Crane and Hauling as an oiler and worked his way up to crane operator. He worked with Duffy Crane until the mid 1990's, until he opened his drop off dry cleaning business. He owned the business for 3 years until selling and later became a security guard for CEA. He officially retired in 2007.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, and spending time with his family. Jerry had a generous spirit and loved to give and include everyone. Jerry was the person you went to for advice, an open ear and a lending hand. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was the guy that taught life skills. He made sure his family was ready for any situation, from changing a tire, building a fire, putting gas in your car, and self confidence to able to accomplish anything.
Jerry is survived by Jackie, his wife of 58 years; children Shannon (David) MacDonald, Matthew McDermott, and Mark (Anne Marie) McDermott; grandchildren Clayton and Luke MacDonald, and many nieces and nephews.
