He was born in Rochester, New York on March 3, 1949 to the late Jack and Margaret Vavla. He also had a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Mary.
Jerry was married to his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline for nearly 55 years. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Lipton) Vavla, son, Timothy (Rebecca) Vavla of Rexburg, Idaho and his daughter, Jennifer Vavla of Westminster, Colorado. Jerry was a grandfather to six grandchildren, Savannah (Charlie) Woods, Makayla (Taylor) Thorpe, Haley Vavla, Josh Vavla, Jared Vavla and Olivia Vavla. He had three great-grandchildren, Easton, Bridger and Joselyn.
Jerry graduated from North Olmsted High School in North Olmsted, Ohio. He also graduated from Max S. Hayes Vocational School in Cleveland, Ohio and earned a Journeyman's Certificate in Floor Laying. He worked at this trade for over 57 years.
Jerry enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, bowling and golf. He loved spending time with his family and absolutely adored his little dog, Buddy.
A Life Celebration will be held on September 17, 2024 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
