Joan May France died,at peace, on February 12, 2024. Her son, Marcus, was at her side. As a child, her father was sent away to fight with the British Army in World War II. He fought under General Alexander in Burma and Egypt. Her schoolyard was strafed by Nazis. Thirty classmates were killed. Her neighborhood was bombed three times before the government evacuated the children to the countryside. She stayed with a host family for the duration. When her father came home, he could not Bring himself to kill an insect. "Heaven preserve us from the scourge of war."
