Joan Moody was born January 12th, 1936 to Kathleen and Charles (Chad) Moody and grew up in North Denver. Joan attended North High School and later Wheaton College for a couple years before being married to Ronald Amsler McKinley on the twenty-fifth of June, 1955 and honeymooned at Trapper's Lake in north-western Colorado mountains. Joan and Ron were very much in love despite their fifteen year difference in age. Joan later graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Rockmont (Colorado Christian University) in 1984.
Joan was a homemaker while raising their three children, Jan, Graham and Julie and later held some positions such as clerk in a Christian book store.
Joan was also active with her husband as members of Trinity Baptist Church in Wheat Ridge where the family home was also located. Joan spent some years teaching Sunday School to late Elementary and Junior High School aged children attending Trinity. Ron, Joan and the family spent much time in their beloved Colorado Rocky Mountains, camping, fishing, hiking and off-roading and Joan loved worshipping the Lord in the Colorado mountains to the end of her life and always missed her husband Ron especially when in the mountains.
Joan went to live in Porter Place in Denver in 2018 and on July 23rd, 2020, passed away at Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial after complications related to Alzheimer's disease. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends but is now finally with her beloved Lord!
