Joan Priscilla Sanchez was born March 8, 1937 in Eaton, Colorado to Amado and Anastacia Borquez, the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Denver, spoiled by her family and called “Baby”. She married Joe Sanchez on September 28, 1957. They spent the next 65 years together raising a family, travelling, and making each other laugh until Joan’s passing on March 23, 2023.
Joan enjoyed sewing, crafting, gambling, gardening, and rooting for the home team, the Colorado Rockies. Never a fair-weather fan, the Rockies always had her support, regardless of their record. More important than her faith in baseball was her ardent faith in the Lord. A life-long Catholic, Joan was always comforted by prayer and the rituals she learned as a child.
The other major source of joy for Joan was her family. She is survived by her husband Joe, six children Julie (Jim), Gary, Donna (Rich), Ken (Dana), Kris, and Tom, twelve grandchildren Marisa (Ryan), Trevor (Lana), Cait, Asa, Sam (Kayla), Derek (Linda), Jack, Abby, Danielle, Piper, Delaney, and Josh, and six great-grandchildren Jade, Brody, Taylor, Frederick, Romeo, and Henry. She was met in heaven by her parents, siblings, and eldest daughter, Roseanne.
