Juanita Benton Jackson was born on March 4, 1926, in Conway, Arkansas to the union of Sanford and Lucille Benton. She was the second of three children. She was raised surrounded by her sister, Alice, and brother, Buford. She received her early and secondary education in Arkansas. Juanita united in holy matrimony to William August Hale in Arkansas. To this union, seven children were born, of which four precede her in death. Juanita and her children relocated to Denver in 1950, where she met and married Dorsey Jackson.
By profession, Juanita was employed by Trailway Bus Station, she loved her job. She was hard working and dedicated and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. After retirement, Juanita enjoyed fishing and planting her flowers. She loved her sports, the Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, and especially the Broncos. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, she accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age. Juanita was a very proud and active First Lady of the Metropolitan State Church. She later became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she remained until her death. Some of her civic organizations and affiliations were the Eastern Star. Juanita was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Her cousins, Nell and Tine, and neighbors, Coltie, Mary, and Roy were always there for her. She loved their visits.
She loved Calvin Green “Butch,” whom she called her son. He would take her to her appointments and loved to bet with him on the Broncos games. She also loved her grandson, Raymoun and his wife, Andrea, because they always brought her fried chicken and enjoyed eating it with her. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Juanita was to love her.
Juanita Benton Jackson departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on September 24th, 2017. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving sons, Sylvanus (Denise) Hale, Sylvester (Doris) Hale, Calvin (Lilieth) Hale; brother, Buford (Elmer) Benton; 14 grandchildren, Sylvanus Hale, Jr., Kalin Hale, Jackie Arkadie, Raymond Davis, Sylvester Wade Hale, Raymond Moore, Raymoun Moore, Rodney Moore, Yolanda Deenweed, Dana Halak, Aubrye Hale, Stephanie McLahlan, and Shaunte McLahlan; 25 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren, and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Olinger Crown Hill. Services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3301 Leyden Street, Denver. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
