

Katherine E. Pacheco, "Katie" to all who knew her passed away peacefully at Collier Hospice Center at age 88. She was alert and cheering for her Green Bay Packers. Katie led an active life and was involved with many activities. She was born to Mary and Frank Tubbs in Seymour, Wisconsin on September 26, 1926. She had an older brother and sister (Bill and Mary Ellen) and later three younger brothers (Dale, Bob and Jim). She was raised on a dairy farm and moved to Chicago after high school graduation. Katie and her friend Corrine moved to Colorado to attend Western State where she met Frank Pacheco. They were married February 19, 1949. She had three children; Kim, Karen and Kenny. They moved around the country living in Wisconsin, Wyoming, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Colorado.
Katie was involved in several clubs, always social. She was active in church groups, pinochle, cribbage, square dancing and wood carving. She loved swimming and tennis. She was active in Meals on Wheels and knitting hats and sweaters to be given to underserved people. When she needed dialysis, she considered that her "part time job" and continued to remain involved in many of her various activities.
She worked in the office for IRS and then was a "lunch lady" for the Jefferson County School system.
She is preceded in death by her sister, 3 brothers and her husband. She leaves her younger brother Jim (Dixie); her children Kim (Chuck), Karen (Kevin), Kenneth (Cindy); her grandchildren: Joey, Monica, Rob, Lelia, Zed, AJ, Josh and Jeremy; and great grandchildren: Isabell, Marcos, Jennings, Cal and Audrey.
