

Mary Katherine Bowman was born October 7, 1930 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The daughter of Levi and Hazel Boettler. She died October 20, 2023. Better known as Katie, she grew up on a ranch outside of Steamboat with her brothers Wallace and Alva, and her sister Luella.
She attended the Eddy School House (one room) through her youth. The family relocated to southern California in 1944. Katie graduated from Riverside High School, continuing her education at Riverside Junior College from which she received an Associate Business Degree. Katie moved back to Colorado in 1951 and began working at Thompson Pipe and Steel as a receptionist. Upon marrying Ralph Robert Bowman (Bob) in 1955, she moved to Grand Junction to start a new life and family. Judy was born on October 27, 1956. Mark was born February 22, 1959. After the four moved into a new home in Arvada, Colorado Michael followed July 30, 1967.
Katie enjoyed and excelled in her role as a traditional housewife over the next several years while also working part time as a teacher’s aid.
Bob died October 23, 1983. Katie moved forward strongly with a new life of volunteering at several organizations, travel and quality time with friends and family. She moved into the Springwood Retirement Center in 2018 after living happily independent until the age of 87. In 2021 she moved into assisted living at the Covenant Living Center. Katie passed away October 20, 2023.
Katie is survived by her children Judy (Gary) Beghtol, Mark (Sandy) Bowman, Michael Bowman, granddaughter Ava Bowman, step granddaughter Courtney Printz, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private Funeral Service will be held November 14, 2023.
