Kenneth Edward Turner, a man of immense kindness, generous spirit, and an infectious passion for life, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in his lifelong home of Denver, Colorado. He was 78 years old. At his passing, he was surrounded by the deep love of his chosen family and dear friends who walked beside him through his final chapter.
Ken was born on August 1, 1947, in Denver, where he was raised and spent most of his life. Throughout the years, he also lived in Dallas, Seattle, and Salt Lake City, but Denver always remained home to him. He spent his later years in Thornton, Colorado, where he lovingly and thoughtfully cared for his mother, Nora, until her passing—ensuring her final years were surrounded by peace, dignity, and love.
Ken was the son of William “Bill” Turner and Nora Lee Nadeau, the beloved brother of Phillip “Tommy”, Ashlock, Belford “Pete” Turner and Raynold “Ronnie” Nadeau. He will now rest peacefully beside his mother and two of his brothers Pete and Ronnie.
Ken was a world traveler who never lost his sense of wonder. A seasoned cruiser, he sailed the historic waters of Europe and the vibrant coasts of Central America. His recent adventures took him to the hills of San Francisco and the beaches of San Diego, and he was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Key West with the same excitement he had for his very first journey. Whether he was exploring a foreign capital or lying by the pool in the sun, Ken was a master of the "wonderful life," always returning home with a tan that was the envy of everyone he knew.
Before retiring, Ken built a successful career in the stock brokerage industry, serving as a Vice President and earning the respect of both colleagues and clients throughout his career. He worked hard, built meaningful relationships, and carried himself with professionalism while never losing the warmth and kindness that defined who he was.
Anyone who knew Ken knew how effortlessly he could light up a room. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed, understood, and cared for. Even strangers were often touched by his kindness, warm conversations, and genuine interest in others. He had an incredibly generous spirit and always went the extra mile to help people, no matter how big or small the situation was. Ken rarely said no to anyone in need.
Ken deeply valued friendship and laughter. Wednesday night card games became one of his favorite traditions; he often started slow, but somehow always found a way to catch up and emerge as the final winner by the end of the night. He looked forward to his twice a year Broadway plays, all his travels, laying by a pool and would never turn down going out to eat. He loved fun, loved people, and loved making others happy. People naturally gravitated toward him because being around Ken simply made life feel lighter and more joyful.
He found joy in simple, delightful rituals: he was the world’s most dedicated Cherry Coke enthusiast, rarely seen without one of his three daily bottles in hand. He was also an amazing cook who was a master at making homemade mac and cheese, with homemade chicken noodle soup being a weekly comfort, and whose deviled eggs were a beloved Christmas tradition. With a great eye for art and style, Ken created warm, welcoming spaces that reflected his sophisticated yet comfortable personality.
One of the greatest joys of Ken’s life was his dog Ruby, whom he loved unconditionally. He took her every where he could with him, and loved going on his dog walks 3 days a week when the weather permitted. It wasn’t uncommon for Ken to go thru the Arby’s drive thru for just Ruby after he had a nice meal at a different restaurant. A cherished image of Ken is him relaxing on the couch while Ruby sat by his feet, both of them enjoying the "skin shows" on TV that most people didn't understand, but that always made Ken giggle with genuine joy.
Ken lived a full and colorful life filled with sunshine, loyalty, and compassion.
Ken is preceded in death by his father Bill Turner, mother Nora Nadeau, brothers Tommy, Pete and Ronnie. While he leaves no surviving immediate family, he is survived by numerous cousins, his chosen family Frederic, Lisa, and Lisa's family—and the countless friends whom he adores. He taught us how to love generously, how to remain open-hearted, and how to find adventure in every single day.
We find comfort knowing he is likely on his grandest adventure yet—with a cold Cherry Coke in hand and a perfect, sun-kissed tan, surrounded by his immediate family he loved dearly.
