Larry Lee Peltz was born in Yoder, Wy on November 25, 1938; the first of five children born of John and Irene, he had two brothers -Ronald and Johnny, and two sisters-Jeanette and Sandra. A very close family, they spent a lot of time camping and fishing, attending baseball games, wrestling matches, football games and many family dinners.
After graduating from Westminster High School Larry attended Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, CO until Jeanette died of a pituitary gland disease; he left school and came home to help with the family business, Johnny's Auto Service in North Denver until he went to work for Martin Marietta where he stayed for 13 years and became an electrician.
In April 1955 Larry stopped and asked a girl who was walking in the rain if she wanted a ride. She said yes; he married Darlene in 1958, they had four sons- Kevin, Kirk, Kyle, and Kory. Larry and Darlene have been together in some capacity for 66 years enjoying six grandchildren - Whitney Dodd, Rebecca Peltz, Katherine Peltz, Derrick Fox, Dusty Peltz, Dalton Peltz and two great-grandchildren - Riley Dodd and Kason Herrera; Larry often referred to Tammy Garcia as his adopted daughter and he was happy Kyle married Stacee; he will be greatly missed.
After his stint with Martin, Larry remodeled many properties in the area, some for others, some of his own. About 1980 he went to work as a master electrician for School District 50 for 23 years; he retired in 2003 and went into gardening growing so many zucchinis and tomatoes, every summer he put a table out on the street with a free sign.
The 4th of July pig roasts were his most fun projects; once he was invited to one somewhere along the way he hosted one every other year inviting every new friend he encountered, and since he never met a stranger, one picnic lasted 3 days with over 100 people attending - bring a covered dish, the music is loud, and the beer is free. Larry was in his element. He was also a great storyteller, his audience usually enjoyed them every time because they often changed in the telling. He will be remembered for his love of music, his generosity, his scary driving, and his love of people.
On Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the crack of dawn Larry left us after suffering for ten long months with chronic osteomyelitis of his right leg. He is preceded in death by his son Kevin, parents John and Irene, his brothers Ronald and John Wayne, and his sister Jeanette.
There will forever only be one Larry. Rest easy, honey.
