

Optimistic, Determined, Generous, Kind, Humble, Workhorse, Adventurer, Mentor and Friend all defined Leslie in his life. He was born on September 7,1940, in Kearney, Nebraska to Isabelle and Frank Mess. He was raised in Kearney and moved to Wheat Ridge, CO in 1957 as a teenager. He started working as a drywaller and finisher.
In 1958 Leslie enlisted in the US Army. He served in Fort Gordon, GA and Fort Carson,CO. After discharge, Leslie returned to Wheat Ridge and started his own drywall business, L and L Drywall, with his brother, Leroy and they operated the business for 50 years before retiring.
In 1962 Leslie married Barbara Smitham and they adopted one son, Leslie Jr. at the age of 2 and 1/2 months. Leslie Jr. lives in Denver, CO. Leslie Sr. and Barbara later divorced. In 1972 Leslie married Pamela Lubovich and this union produced two children, Gary and Theresa, both residing in Norway. Leslie and Pamela later divorced.
After retirement Leslie scouted out various states with beautiful lakes and good fishing. He settled on Rogers, Arkansas and lived there until his death.
8 years ago Leslie met the love of his life, Rosmary, in Brazil. They subsequently married, she moved to Arkansas and he was so proud of her when she became an American citizen in 2023.
Leslie is survived by two sisters, Gertie Lee, Wheat Ridge, CO and Shirley (Neal) Scott, New York City and one brother, Leroy, of Wheat Ridge, CO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy DeLaet.
