Linda Jean Millican, daughter of Robert Richard Millican and Lois Virginia Millican, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was preceded in passing by her father Robert Richard Millican in 1995, her brother Michael Steven Millican in 2009, and her daughter April Lea Clayton in 1981.
Born September 8, 1952, in Denver Colorado, Linda grew up in the Denver area.
Linda exuded positivity, wisdom and resilience, and made friends everywhere she went. As a little girl, Linda loved playing with her brother and sister and spending time with her grandparents. She attended Bear Creek high school and graduated from the University of Arizona, Tucson, with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, where she made many life-long friends. After college, Linda moved back to Colorado where she had two daughters, April Lea Clayton and Amy Jennifer Burne. She worked for her family’s business, Crane Homes, where she met another of her life-long friends. In 1983, she and Amy moved to the National Redwood Forest in Northern California, a place Linda truly loved and often thought of fondly.
In 1985, Linda moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she again worked for her family’s business, as a Financial Analyst, Community Planner and Interior Designer. Also, at that time, Linda proudly taught various classes on the Pima-Maricopa reservation near Chandler, AZ. In Scottsdale, she met Michelle Owens, who she “adopted” as her daughter. While in Arizona, she frequently visited her family’s ranches, Kirkland Valley Morgan Ranch and Yolo Ranch, where her brother Michael and sister Susan lived with their families.
Linda moved back to Colorado in 1993 and continued working in the home building business for Genesee Homes and Lennar Homes. Linda then took a hiatus from that career to pursue her aspirations of being an Herbalist at Turtle Island Herbs, in Boulder, Colorado, where she met more of her life-long friends.
Linda was an avid gardener, crafter and loved to read. She loved giving gifts and was passionate about fighting for women’s and children’s rights. She was gifted at creating true connections with people and humbly imparted wisdom and advice to everyone she encountered. Some of her life’s great joys included gathering and sharing knowledge, spreading peace, and giving and receiving love with her family and friends.
Though Linda struggled with multiple serious health conditions for much of her adult life, she didn’t let them define her. Instead, she always had a positive outlook and encouraged everyone around her to, “be better not bitter.” Her family and friends will remember her for her unfailing kindness and bravery under adversity. Also, her faith in the kindness of strangers. She will be deeply missed. Peace always.
Linda is survived by her Colorado family; her mother Lois Millican, daughter Amy Burne, son-in-law Jesse Burne; Arizona family, her sister Susan Horst, brother-in-law Keith Horst, nephew Alex Horst, niece-in-law Chelsea Stone, daughter Michelle Owens, grandson Trent Solvesky, as well as her Texas family, sister-in-law Sharon Millican, niece Beth Millican, nephew James Millican, niece-in-law Dana Millican and their children Michael and Ruth Millican, along with all her loving friends and extended family.
Memorial Services are scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 11:00am at Crown Hill Cemetery and virtually on Crown Hill Facebook under “posts” (at the same date/time).
