Lorna Jean Columbia

Lorna, 83, loving mother and grandmother of Lakewood, Colorado and recently of Hotchkiss, Colorado died January 25, 2025. She is survived by son Robert “Kevin” Columbia and daughter-in-law Loretta Columbia; brother Tom Wertz; eight grandchildren, Casey Toepfer, Emerald Gonzales, Melissa Shoup, Erica Ferguson, Nick Columbia, Hannah Edmond, Tyler Columbia, and Elijah Columbia; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jonah, Connor, Sapphire, Leonardo, Kyla, Fayth, Joel Jr., Tanner, Jack, Eric, Kimido, Matthew, Wyatt, Mia, Cameron, Daniel, Kailyn, and Rocket; and two great-great grandchildren, Michaelangelo and Elizsha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Columbia, her daughter, Wendy Shoup, and her parents, Herbert and Nancy Wertz.

Lorna was born in Denver, Colorado on June 14, 1941 and graduated from West High School where she performed as the brightest “ornament” on the “Singing Christmas Tree." Lorna retired from the State of Colorado where her most recent position was as executive assistant to the commissioner of the department of Agriculture.

Lorna was a member of Red Rocks Fellowship in Littleton Colorado and of First Baptist Church of Hotchkiss.

Public visitation is Friday, January 31 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The funeral service is Saturday February 1, 2025 at 11:00am. Both services will be located at Olinger Crown Hill, W. 29th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. The internment, at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, will follow the funeral service.
