It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Lorraine Loeffler. She crossed peacefully holding CJ & Sylvia’s hands. Lorraine’s wishes were to be in her home, with her two dogs when it was her time. She left us on 6 March 2023 at the amazing age of 101 years and 8 months.
She was born June 25, 1921 in Nebraska, and lived a full and rewarding life.
Lorraine moved to Colorado with her mother Florence Paulison-Loeffler and her stepfather Harry Swett, whom provided her with a loving and supportive environment and home. Lorraine obtained two bachelors and masters and was reading for her doctorate. She had a natural talent for teaching, and after completing her education; she became an elementary school teacher. Lorraine taught as a college professor and other levels of education, though her favorite level to educate was 2nd grade students. She devoted her life to shaping the minds of countless children, instilling in them a love for learning and a sense of curiosity about the world around them. Even after Lorraine retired from teaching elementary school she changed so many lives with her ability to teach by tutoring college students both foreign and domestic. Lorraine had many hobbies and talents. Some of which were unbeknownst to her grandchildren, such as poetry writing, her love of learning languages: Arabic, Spanish and French.
Lorraine’s amazing love for printing has touched so many lives, and allowed new friendships and adventures. Lorraine was a Ham Radio operator and even when Mountain Bell was down she knew how to reach out and touch someone. She held friendships from all over the world through HAM radio. Many travels to see and travels with some of the club members.
Anyone that has been in Lorraine’s house knows of her amazing ability to paint and has likely seen her paintings; Lorraine held love of creating; from sewing to crafts, and held a undeniable love of the mountains, especially Hessie, Colorado.
She has brought so much love and joy to this world.
Lorraine was a pillar of strength for her family, friends and neighbors. Always there to lend a listening ear and offer wise counsel. She had a kind and gentle spirit, and her warm smile and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone around her. Lorraine had a dry sense of humor, but truly said the most hilarious and unbelievable adages that she herself created.
Her unwavering faith in God sustained her throughout her life, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Lorraine had a heart full of love. She adopted Deborah Hughes, giving her a loving home and guidance in life.
Her two grandchildren, CJ Rickstrew, and Ray Rickstrew and Great grandson Greyson Rickstrew survive Lorraine, all whom she loved dearly and who brought immense joy to her life. The two aforementioned rug rats would not be who they are today without her love and guidance. She also left behind two very loving dogs Sassy, and PePe La Pue. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the lives of those she touched.
A Celebration of life will be held to honor Lorraine's life and legacy on April 1, 2023 at 1400 or 2pm at Crown Hill’s Chapel. A Celebration of Life Reception to follow.
