Marilyn Foster Swanson, 84, died January 9, 2026. She was born March 1, 1941 in Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband William Gladden, her brother Gordon Foster Swanson and her parents, Russel and Ione Swanson. A memorial, grave-side service will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery on February 4 at 2 p.m.
Marilyn was a long-time resident of Jefferson County, CO, and a graduate of Lakewood High School, class of 1959. She also graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with B.S. and M.S. degrees in medical technology.
As a senior in high school, she received an athletic letter sweater for her participation in girls’ basketball, baseball, and volleyball, an unusual feat in 1959. She was also a National Merit Scholar and in the top 10% of her class.
Marilyn loved to travel. She logged over 100,000 miles with Ports of Call. Some of her favorite events were hot-air balloon festivals which she observed in several countries.
She was a good friend.
