Nadir Hass (Massirer) was born to Amanda (Veeck) and Erich Massirer in Três de Maio, Brazil on March 14, 1942, on her mother's 22nd birthday. She was the second oldest of six children, and the oldest girl. At age 14 she left home to become an Evangelical nun. Through the convent, Nadir was trained as a nurse and played the organ and piano.
Also, while in the convent, Nadir met Lina Hass; they became great friends. Lina had a younger brother named Erich (Eric) who had moved to the United States. Lina was growing tired of writing Erich, and after seeing Erich's picture, Nadir asked if she could write him. Nadir would make excuses to go to Lina's room just to look at Erich's picture every night before going to bed. Erich and Nadir wrote each other for a year and a half. On a trip to visit home, Erich proposed to Nadir on February 8, 1970. They were married in Brazil on November 28, 1970. Erich returned to the States and Nadir joined him in early April 1971.
Erich and Nadir had two children: Marcus and Sheila. Nadir was a stay-at-home mom and wife until Sheila was in middle school. She stayed busy keeping a beautiful home, playing taxi for the kids, cooking, and also helping Erich with his tailor shop. She never missed a soccer game, swim meet, gymnastics meet, choir, band, or orchestra concert, or Taekwon-Do test. Marcus and Sheila couldn't ask for a bigger or better fan. On the weekends, Erich and Nadir enjoyed dancing at the Edelweiss, going to their (church) Explorers Group, and attending church on Sundays. Nadir loved being part of the church choir. Nadir also became an American Citizen.
Once the kids were old enough to be more self-sufficient, Nadir started as a housekeeper for a fancy hotel. She took pride in her work. After several years of cleaning at the hotel, she slowly built a clientele and started her own business cleaning houses. On top of cleaning full time, she continued to play taxi and cheerleader for her kids as well as helping with the shop.
As the kids grew and started their families, "Opa and Oma" made every effort to be as involved in their grandchildren's lives as possible. Nothing brought them more joy than their grandchildren.
At the end of 2017, Erich and Nadir moved to Greeley, CO to be closer to Sheila and her family, as both Erich and Nadir had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. They lived in independent living facilities until 2022, when they moved into assisted living. Nadir lost the love of her life in 2023. The majority of the next two and a half years were spent hanging out in the lobby of her assisted living facility, going for walks, and going to any music activity she could find! She rarely sat alone at a meal and made many friends with residents, facility employees, and even other residents' family members. She made sure other residents were included in activities.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Nadir was called home by her Lord and Savior and was reunited with Erich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erich and Amanda Massirer; and two brothers, Nasio and Ercio Massirer (Sr.), and beloved husband, Erich L. Hass. She is survived by her sisters, Zenir Schneider, Mara Ranzi, and Ude Menezes, and their spouses, many nieces and nephews, all of Brazil, her son, Marcus (Deanna) Hass of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter, Sheila (Kenny) Shirley of Loveland, CO; her grandchildren, Joshua, Kayleigh, Mason, and Kendall; step granddaughters, Courtney and Kelsey; and great-grandchildren Carter, Colter, Laramie, Decker, James, and Denver.
A Celebration of Life to be held at LaSalle Community Church (102 S Walnut St, La Salle, CO 80645) at 2pm on January 2, 2026. Refreshments to follow in the Family Life Center (next door).
