October 27, 1934 – March 26, 2016
Nancy was born October 27, 1934 in Los Angeles, California to Robert Donald Dudley and Opal Ruth Bruce. She grew up with two brothers, Bruce and Bob, and two sisters Mary and Linda. They lived in California most of her life and enjoyed lots of music and participated in Job’s Daughters where Nancy served as an honored Queen. In 1953 she married her childhood friend and brother in law Kenneth E Cross. Her Sister, Mary was married to Ken’s brother, Robert (Bob) Cross. They lived in Lakewood, Colorado, where Ken and Cathy were raised, before moving to Nokomis, Florida to enjoy the warm sun and beaches. They later relocated to Fayetteville, Arkansas to be closer to family and live out their final days.
Nancy was well known for her many talents. She made heartwarming meals like her famous meat and gravy with mashed potatoes and awesome pies with crust that could not be matched. She was thrifty, and could make any diamond in the ruff look like brand new. Her abilities to support her husband with his real estate and contracting endeavors included managing properties, flipping rentals and renovating worn and tattered homes. None of this surpassed her importance on family. Whether it was teaching the children how to pull weeds and have etiquette or organizing another family event to include ice skating, badminton, cards or just another holiday; it clearly showed how important Nancy’s family being together was to her.
Nancy’s favorite past times were playing on the piano, singing, listening to music and dancing with her loving husband. They enjoyed traveling, gardening, camping in the mountains, fishing on the lake and spending time on the boat. No matter where you were or what you were doing Nancy always had a song or phrase to enjoy along with it.
Nancy will be survived through her two children Kenneth Michael Cross of Brighton, Colorado and Gary and Cathy Roth of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her sisters Mary and Linda, brother Bruce, and countless close relatives and friends that were impacted by her life.
She will be greatly missed!
