Nelson Edward Aregood III of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021, at the age of 82, after courageously fighting a long battle with lung cancer. Nelson was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1938 and his parents relocated to Colorado several years later. Nelson had many passions in life, most of which included his family, friends and of course, classic cars. He married Ellen (Lynne) Parker in the spring of 1960 and celebrated 44 years of marriage before her passing in 2004. Nelson was one of the original founders of the Mile-High Nomad Club and later helped establish the National Nomad Club. It was during these times that he and Lynne developed many cherished relationships. During his working years he had a successful career with Safeway Stores as a Data Processing Manager which required many moves to multiple states. After leaving Safeway he dabbled in computer consulting for several large companies. It was also during this time that he had a vision of becoming an entrepreneur and came up with several ideas which he patented and marketed. He finally settled down in the late 80’s and developed a partnership with his son, Brad Aregood, to open R-Good’s Autoworks focusing on collision repair and classic car restoration. His passion for the automobile led him to have an impressive collection of his own and also directed him to co-author a series of books on 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolets. In his later years he scaled back on his car collection, retired from his partnership with Brad and enjoyed a life of retirement. Throughout his illness he maintained his genuine joy for life, positive outlook and independence right up to the very end.
Survivors include his son Brad Aregood and wife Kelly, his daughter Bonnie Berg and husband Steve, his grandchildren Ron Berg, Amanda (Aregood) and husband Clinton Bruce, Jeff Aregood, Crystal (Berg) and husband Derek Fiorini, Cody Aregood and Jessica Aregood; his great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Beau Fiorini and Brianna Bruce, his brother Raymond Aregood and wife Jan, his sister-in-law Blair Sapp, many cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Lynne) Aregood and his son, Brian Aregood.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
