

Pauline was born in Denver, Colorado on April 9, 1933 to Leona Pittroff Jones and Lester Buel Jones. Pauline was raised in West Denver near her double cousins; Lorraine, Lois, Gloria Luther Jr. and Alan Jones. Although she was an only child, Pauline had Cousins in her life every day. Pauline also had a close relationship with her uncle Larry Pittroff who was a year younger than her.
Pauline attended Denver West High School, graduating in 1950. After high school, she graduated from Denver University with a degree in Secretarial Science.
Pauline was employed by the United States Government. She worked in Denver for the Internal Revenue Service for many years as an Executive Secretary. In her early years working for the IRS she met her lifetime best friend, Marion Gatto. They remained in close contact until Pauline's passing. After Pauline met and married Bill Altman, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she worked as the Executive Secretary to the Commander at Montcrief Army Hospital at Fort Jackson. After her divorce, Pauline returned to Denver and worked as a Budget Analyst for the IRS until she retired in 1994.
Pauline was an animal lover. She always kept the bird feeders full. She enjoyed watching all of the wildlife that she could see in the open space behind her home. Pauline also loved to travel. She took many trips all over the world. She traveled with friends and family. Often she was joined by various cousins, young and old. While her parents were living, she took several cruises and many road trips, on which she was often joined by her longtime companion, Jim Koleski.
Although Pauline didn't have children of her own, she loved many of her cousins like she would her own children. Many of her youngest cousins called her "Grandma Pauline." Pauline had a special "spark." People who met her fell in love with her almost instantly. She had a fun spirit that made anyone she met want to be her friend. She was physically and had a beautiful heart. She has a colorful personality and a fun, dry sense of humor. She kept us laughing. Pauline was kind, loving and generous. She enjoyed a martini in the evening and particular liked drinking it on her back deck in nice weather.
Pauline attended Notre Dame Catholic parish. While Pauline and Jim were still able to drive, they didn't miss a week of church. Pauline fought a brave battle with cancer and kept her sweet disposition until she passed.
