January 6, 1939 – January 25, 2026
Randall Douglas McVeigh, 87, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado. Known affectionately as Randy to all who knew him, he was born on January 6, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Shirley Green, who was primarily a single mom. Randy dedicated his life to his faith, his family, and his country.
A proud veteran, Randy joined the United States Navy following high school. He served honorably for four years, applying his keen eye and technical skill as a team leader of an aerial photography plane. Following his service, he dedicated his professional life to manufacturing, eventually serving as the manager of a machine shop for many years.
Most importantly, Randy was a man of deep Christian faith. A devoted member of the Bear Valley Church of Christ, he served as a Deacon for many years, embodying the heart of a servant. His ministry reached across the globe as a volunteer in the World Bible School program, and he remained active locally through the children’s bus ministry and the church security team.
In 1961, Randy married the love of his life, Connie Elting. They shared 64 years of marriage, building a life and a home in Lakewood where they resided for 57 years. A "natural-born Grandpa," Randy’s greatest joy was found in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An avid sportsman, Randy played football and basketball in his youth and remained a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos and Nuggets. His creative spirit was expressed through photography, woodworking, and his cherished collections of model cars and coins.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Connie McVeigh; his brother, Gene McVeigh; and his children, Vicki Erkkila and Carey McVeigh. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will miss his presence dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Green; his sister, Carole Donaldson; and his son, Daniel, who passed away in childhood.
A funeral service in honor of Randy will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 11:00 am at Bear Valley Church of Christ, located at 2707 S. Lamar St, Denver, CO 80227. This will be followed by a private burial service at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
