"In loving memory of Raymond George Vardeman, aged 73, who passed away on January 26th, 2024, after a splendid evening spent with close friends and family at his side. Born in Iowa on April 18th, 1950, he is survived by his former wife and friend, Marilou, their daughter Lindsay, and his granddaughter Logan. He was also very devoted to his stepchildren, Christy and David and their children. He treated everyone with love and generosity not excluding his granddogs that he showered with treats, toys and tons of attention. He was well-known for being at the ready to adopt any dog in need.
Spirited as he was, his sudden departure has left us all in a state of shock. Although we feel strongly the void of his absence, his memory will remain permanently in our hearts. A more devoted family man and loyal friend couldn't be asked for.
As was his humor, he sometimes affectionately referred to himself as 'Ray, A Drop Of Golden Sun.' Though he did not recognize the weight of truth in this statement, it is undeniable that his light shined brightly in the darkness for those who loved him.
We will deeply miss his reassuring presence, playful banter, and unwavering strength. Life will never be the same without him. May his soul rest peacefully by that stream and never thirst."
