

Rita Patricia Herrera was born on May 22, 1938, in Los Montoyas, New Mexico, to Luis Herrera and Melecia Herrera. She was first married to John Thomas Chadwick, and together they had six children. Later in life, Rita was remarried to Victor Martinez on July 22, 1985, in Denver, Colorado, and they spent the remainder of her life together, united by love, family, and faith.
Rita worked for many years at US West Phone Company, now known as CenturyLink, where she worked in accounts payable, dedicating herself to her career while providing for her family.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Melecia Herrera; her brother, Donald “Johnny”; and her sister, Bertha. She is survived by her siblings, Orlando “Joe36, and Joyce. Rita is survived by her six children: Richard, Rhonda, Janet, John (Tom), Brenda, and Melissa; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Rita lived a life devoted to Jesus, and her faith remained a constant source of strength throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services will take place on January 9th at 1:00 p.m at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, located at 777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
The family finds peace in knowing that Rita is now resting in the presence of her Lord. Her faith was steadfast, and her life was a reflection of grace, perseverance, and love. She will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
