Robert Harry Nielsen (“Sweed”) passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 92. Bob was born on August 18, 1933, in Denver, Colorado. He was the beloved and only son of Harry and Dorothy Nielsen and had six sisters: Mary, Ann, Cathy, Peggy, Janice, and Cookie.
Bob was born and raised in North Denver, where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou Nielsen. Together, they raised four children: Debbie (Doyle), Tony (Kathy), Susie (Bill), and John.
Bob was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy and was very proud of his service. He spent most of his career working in the Gas Department at Public Service Company (Xcel Energy). He loved traveling, and in fact, he and Mary Lou visited all 50 states together.
Above all, his legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on through generations.
