

He was born in Denver and spent most of his childhood in Sioux City, IA. During WWII, Bob served in the Navy, being honorably discharged in 1945, and returned to Iowa State to complete his degree in Civil Engineering. Colorado is where he eventually made his home, co-founding JVA, a successful consulting engineering company based in Boulder. His career spanned 36 years before retirement. Bob became an avid bicyclist in his fifties, authoring 'Hurt City', a memoir of his solo trips to every state in the continental US. His beloved grandparents instilled in him a love of the mountains, and their Estes Park cabin gave him and his family a lasting legacy to treasure and enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, Loree; two sons Bruce and Dan; daughters, Lisa (Matt), Barbara (John) and Nancy; grandchildren, Matthew and Amber; brother-in-law, Bill Abbott; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four step-children, Robert (Barb), Gregory, Gary (Bess) Burkhardt and Karen (John) Kokolis; seven step-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Annelise and son, Gary.

Bob was a meticulous man who made a difference in his career and with his beloved family. He was loved and will be missed.
