January 12, 1949 - March 28, 2023
Ronald P. Muck, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by love. He was born in Great Falls Montana to Donald Henry and Alice Hattie Tanner Muck, January 12, 1949. Raised on a farm and schooled in a one room schoolhouse in “The Knees,” of Montana. Later, Ron and family packed up and moved to Utah where he graduated from High School. After graduation, Ron moved to California. Ron and his brother Dennis moved to Colorado with the rest of their family following shortly after.
The Muck family established themselves in Lakewood, Colorado. Ron lived in the basement of the family home with Dennis, dear friends Randy Kienke and Brent Jones while working and attending college at the University of Colorado. It was at this residence that Ron met and later married Patricia Switzer. They started their life together in Boulder, where Michelle was born. They moved to Arvada in 1972 where Brett was born.
Ron served in both the Army (1968-1970) and the Air Force (1970-1975) Reserves as a military clerk. During his service, he received a medal for his sharp shooting skills. He was proud of his service to our country.
Ron was ambitious, hard working and had many simultaneous careers. When he was in college, he and Dennis were already entrepreneurs. They would hold kegger parties and invite the girls for free and boys had to pay. This sparked the idea for Dennis’s nightclub After the Gold Rush. Ron worked with his brother and many other family members for years at this establishment. He started with Public Service in the late ‘60s washing vehicles and worked there for 28 years working his way up to management in transportation. He also obtained his real estate license and began buying/selling residential properties as well as property management. This career evolved and spanned across two states and created his own business with Peggy. Their business thrived and grew with the time and attention he and Peggy dedicated to it. He officially retired in 2021.
Ron was an Elks member for 35 years and especially loved attending car shows, dinners and visiting Elks clubs around the US.
Other interests were gardening (vegetables) and caring for his roses. He enjoyed having fun, planning cards, traveling, rv-ing, boating, water skiing, “tinkering” with and cleaning his cars, car shows and cruising. He loved reminiscing with friends and family, sharing stories and teasing loved ones. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed weekly visits with his parents for sweet treats and playing pinnacle.
Ron later found his soul mate and wife of almost 30 years, Margaret (Peggy) Wrinn Smawley. They built their life together through family, faith, love, travel and their real estate/ property management business. They were joined in marriage December 31, 1993 by Bob Delancy (a long time family friend). This was a celebration not only of their love and commitment to each other but of the combining of the family with their three children, Michelle, Brett and Stephanie.
Final goodbye. Too soon after Ron retired, he was diagnosed with Dementia and lovingly cared for in his home by his sweetie. Ron was known for the twinkle in his eye, his sense of humor, the way he loved to tease and tell stories, his wisdom, warmth and friendliness and his dedication to his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Michelle Pfeifer (Mike Pfeifer), son Brett Muck (Miriah Grabow), step-daughter Stephanie Smawley, brother Dennis Muck, sisters Carolyn McDonald and LuAnn Zimmermann, brothers-in-law Rob, John and Tommy Wrinn, sister-in-law Kathie Copley, grandchildren Shelby Archuleta, Raymond Archuleta, Gabriella (Frank) Capolungo, Victoria Pfeifer, Christopher Pfeifer and Amelia Menozzi and many extended family members.
