Sherry Marie Veltkamp

July 15, 1937 – March 10, 2023

Sherry Marie Veltkamp passed away after a short illness on March 10, 2023 at the age of 85. Sherry, while knowing the end was near maintained a positive attitude and witty sense of humor. She enjoyed sharing her love and positive outlook with friends and family.

Sherry was born July 15, 1937 in Bozeman, Montana to Henry and Bessie Nerbovig. She had the fortune to grow up with a wonderful brother, Lanny Nerbovig in Gallatin Gateway, Montana. In 1956 she married the love of her life Barney Veltkamp. They grew their family with three children, Sheryl, Michael, and Shauna.

Sherry’s work career centered on being the office manager for Drs. Rosenthal and Chapman. She enjoyed greeting the patients and watching families grow. Through her career she worked with children and children’s children.

Aside from her husband and children, Sherry’s biggest passion was her art. She loved to paint and was a member of the Wheat Ridge Art League. Her friends and colleagues brought her so much joy and happiness. She was blessed with their caring and compassion. A card she received said, “I hope you have everything you need to soothe your spirit, quiet your mind, and bring you peace.” They gave those attributes to her tenfold.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband Barney of 64 years. She is survived by her brother Lanny Nerbovig of Hyde, Cheshire United Kingdom, children Sheryl Wyman (Chuck) of Bozeman, Montana; Michael Veltkamp (Ellen) of Westminster, Colorado and Shauna Zsteffoni of Arvada, Colorado. Her grandchildren, Brittney Nordahl Ford (Heath), Elkhart, Texas; Beau Nordahl, Bozeman, Montana, Brady Nordahl (Brian), Boulder, Montana, Brad Nordahl, Helmville, Montana, Josh Veltkamp (Deb), Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michaela Veltkamp, Westminster, Colorado, Myke Bassignani, Aurora, Colorado, and Nickales Bassignani of Arvada, Colorado. Sherry also had seven great-grandchildren – Pecos, Gracesyn, Gatlin, Tristen, Dillon, Ariannah, and Amelia.

Services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11:00am.
