98, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2013 in Broomfield, Colorado. Born July 29, 1915 in Denver, Colorado to George and Olga Goranson. Sigrid is survived by her loving family; son Donald R. (Vickie) Bloom, daughter Linda L. Minzak, sister Doris Fox, grandchildren; Darren (Carmen) Bloom, Jill (Brett) Gamberg, Bryan (Kim) Minzak, great grandchildren; Morgan Gamberg, and Garrett Gamberg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles W. Bloom, son Robert C. Bloom, and a son in law Edward Minzak.
Sig, as she was known by friends, was raised in Fraser, Colorado. Her parents, George and Olga Goranson, were immigrants from Torsby, Sweden. They settled in the Fraser Valley in the early 1900's and operated a small farm. Sig had two brothers and two sisters. The only surviving sibling is Doris Fox, the youngest of the five children, who resides in Watsonville, CA. All three of the Goranson girls married guys with the first name of Charles.
Sig grew up in the Fraser Valley and graduated from Fraser High School in 1933. She worked on the family farm delivering milk and butter to local residents and businesses. During the war, she worked in her older sister Elsie's restaurant, Clayton's Cafe & Bar, in Fraser. She married Charles W Bloom in 1937 and moved to Hot Sulphur Springs, where they made their home until the death of her husband in 1972. Chuck Bloom was the Grand County Treasurer for many years until he purchased the Grand County Abstract Company which he ran until his retirement in the early 1970's.
After her husband's passing, Sig made her home in Arvada, CO, where she lived for many years until moving into an assisted living facility. Failing health resulted in her moving to a skilled nursing facility where she lived the remainder of a long and fruitful life.
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found the peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah, yes, these things I, too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full. I’ve savored much, Good friends, good times, A loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me free.
A celebration of Sig's life will be held at a later date.
