He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and his son, Jeffrey Scott. He is survived by his daughter, Amy, and her husband Jong-Khil; his son, Josh, and his wife Sarah; four grandchildren: Hannah, Sophia, Ayden, and Col; his brother, David, and his family; and numerous cousins and their families.
Steve was born and raised in Newark, OH by William and Helen Sidwell with his brothers Bill and David and sister Miriam. He graduated from Purdue University in 1963 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. At Purdue he met Carolyn, and they married in August 1963. They had three children together and were just shy of their 59th wedding anniversary before Carolyn’s passing. Having moved frequently through the years, they moved to Colorado in 2013. He enjoyed biking and hiking and spent many an hour riding and walking around his home in Golden and Arvada. Steve was an avid golfer who loved to spend time with his friends on the course while discoursing on the nature of life, love, our existence, and the futility of attaining PAR.
Steve was a devoted husband and father who stayed true and showed the meaning of marital vows. In the face of tragedy, he loved and cared deeply and leaned on his partner Carolyn and God for guidance, peace, and healing. He displayed the grace he received from God to those he was in relationship with. He was a great believer in the power of dialog, the absurdity of his fellow man, and the ability of all to be good to one another.
