Theodore “Ted” Vincent Benavidez, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Highline Place in Littleton, after a long battle with Dementia. Ted was born on February 28, 1930, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Cleo and Ted D. Benavidez.
Ted graduated from Regis University, served in the U.S. Army, employed by Samsonite for 35 years, and worked at Fox Hollow Golf Course. Ted loved to ski, run, bike, golf, fishing, and enjoyed cocktail hour with his brother-in-law Jim Wendelkin. Ted and Marie had a very long and loving marriage. They were world travelers with Marie’s sister Anita and her husband Jim. After Marie passed away, he joined WMWA, and met Joyce Latham. Ted and Joyce enjoyed travelling, playing golf, theatre, dancing, and local sporting events. One of Ted’s most memorable moments came in 2002 when he was chosen to score for Tiger Woods at The International in Castle Pines.
Survivors include son Paul (Cheri) Benavidez of Centennial and goddaughter Nancy (Bill) Clark of Denver, several nieces and nephews, and beloved grand-dogs Angus and Max. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie and companion Joyce Latham.
Visitation will be Monday, April 29 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Olinger Crown Hill. Rosary on Tuesday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9405 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232, funeral service is immediately following the Rosary. Burial on Tuesday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m., Olinger Crown Hill.
The family wishes to thank the staff at both Highline Place and Abode Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Ted.
