Wayne Mattingly, 66 of Arvada Colorado passed away peacefully on Saturday December 30, 2017. Born to Charlie Holt and Darlene Mattingly in Yakima, Washington on December 8, 1951. Wayne grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona
Wayne had a deep passion for football and his family. His love of sports started as a young child through high school where he was a 3 sport athlete continuing onto the University of Colorado where he played football. Wayne was drafted to the NFL by the Pittsburg Steelers in 1974. He was then traded to the Denver Broncos in 1975 and finished his football career in 1978 retiring from the sport.
Wayne became a security specialist after his football career.
Wayne was extremely proud of his his 4 children. Carrie Kowalke (Paul) of Phoenix AZ, Christie Johnson (Aaron) of Parker CO, Danny Mattingly (Katie) of Aurora CO and Matthew Mattingly of Denver CO. Wayne is also survived by his sister Denise Lucero (Ray) of Denver CO. He s also survived by his loving grandchildren Tyler Kowalke, Simone McWilliams, Joey Mattingly, Isabella Mattingly, Collin Johnson, Madison Johnson and Samantha Johnson along with niece Shelley and nephews Jim and Patrick.
There will be no services at this time. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
