

Werner Henry Nau, 92, of Bolivar, Missouri went to his Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 8:10 PM after a brief illness at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. He was born in Gurley, Nebraska on February 17, 1918, the son of Jost F. Nau and Marie Horstman Nau.
He grew up in Garden City, Kansas and moved to Burbank, California after graduating High School in 1937.
He met his life-long sweetheart Emma Schneider at a dance in Garden City, Kansas in 1937. Werner worked for Lockheed Aircraft building P-38’s. In August 1941, he married Emma in Denver, Colorado. To this union, three children were born. He continued working
for Lockheed until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945.
In 1948 they relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he worked with his father building homes.
In 1956, Werner joined the US Postal Service where he worked as a mail carrier for 28 years.
Emma and Werner lived in Arvada, Colorado for 44 years until 2006, when they moved to Bolivar, Missouri, to live near their son Rick and wife Pat. They have been lovingly cared for by the staff of Butterfield and Parkview Care Centers in Bolivar.
Werner loved music, especially Lawrence Welk and the Gaither Vocal Band. He passed on that love to his children. He also enjoyed doing yard work and keeping his home and cars in tip-top shape. Bicycling was his passion and he rode almost daily until he was 88.
Werner is survived by his wife of 69 years, Emma; son Rick and his wife Patti of Aldrich, Missouri; son Stanley and his wife Janice of Saratoga Springs, Utah; and daughter Nancy Woodruff of Oroville, Washington; 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation Thursday, February 3rd, 4-7 p.m., Funeral service Friday, February 4th at 12:00 noon interment following service,all at Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery.
