As a Homemaker, Winnie took the holistic approach to living. She loved exercising with Jack LeLane. She was a Homemaker Scientist, always experimenting. Elaine and Greg recalled their Mom making her own horseradish sauce. The first time she ate it, Greg thought she was going to die because she got so ill. But she lived and continued experimenting with dinners as she saw fit, and always got offended when they would ask "what is in this?"
Adolescence:
Winnie was a seamstress and Elaine recalled that she sewed all of her clothes.
Career:
Homemaker, had a Cosmetology License, worked in Medical Records, and at a Junior High School as a teacher's aide.

One, of many, Bible verses Winnie loved: Proverbs 3:1-7 (NIV)
"My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil."
Testimony of Faith:
In 1957, her oldest daughter Elaine attended a Youth Group at the Southern Baptist Church. They needed a pianist and Elaine volunteered her Mom (Winnie). Because of this invitation to play the piano, Mom started going to church and accepted Jesus in 1957.
Relationships:
Winnie married Willis Floyd Spencer in November, 1938, in Colorado Springs and they had three children - Elaine Laverne Spencer, Patricia Leona Spencer, and Gregory Floyd Spencer (named after Gregory Peck). They had 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren. Willis was on a fishing trip with Sam Andrews, he got ill, they started home, and he had a massive heart attack and died October 19, 1973. Winnie was a widow for 19 years until she met Art Kluth while volunteering in the church office with mailings. They got married in July, 1992. Art passed away in August, 2004, to once again leave Winnie a widow.
