Mickey was born on June 28, 1932, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Hildegard and Olaf Sesvold. She was known for the twinkle in her eye, her tenacious spirit, and quick wit. Mickey completed her nursing training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan, and became a proud registered nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others.
She met the love of her life, Chuck Hotchkiss, shortly after his return from service in the Korean conflict. They were married in June of 1954 and shared a beautiful life together for 70 years. Mickey and Chuck raised two children: Jay Ross Hotchkiss of Albany, Wisconsin, and Laura Jane D’Angelo of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Chuck worked for General Motors Truck & Coach in Pontiac, while Mickey continued her nursing career at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
Mickey had a lifelong love of sports and enjoyed participating in bowling and golf leagues. In 1982, Mickey and Chuck retired and moved to their dream home on a golf course in North Carolina. There, Mickey embraced the golf community, volunteered her time, and pursued her passion for painting. She was an active member of the local arts guild and became an accomplished artist. Together, Mickey and Chuck cherished many wonderful years enjoying the beauty and milder climate of North Carolina.
After Chuck’s passing in May of 2025, Mickey relocated to an assisted living community in Michigan to be closer to her family. Mickey is survived by her son, Jay Hotchkiss, and grandson, Andy; and by her daughter, Laura D’Angelo, her son-in-law, Bernie, and granddaughters, Lisa and Julie. Her lessons live on through Lisa’s husband, Jason, and her great-grandson, Max Charles.
Mickey will be remembered for her loving heart, her artistic spirit, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
