

Bob “Crankshaft” Mead, age 75, of Commerce Township, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Darlene (Fred) Harvey, and Michele Jackier; his two grandchildren: Bianca Beebe and Nicklaus Harvey; his great-grandson, Ashton Stanford; his siblings: Sharon Sanson, Dona Banks, William Mead, Patricia (Roger) Williamson, Judith Schachermeyer, and Robin (Jerry) Riffle; and his life-long best friend, Craig "Schmitty" Smith.
Bob was born July 17, 1945, in Detroit, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Dorothy (Mock) Mead. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from May of 1967 until May of 1969, when he received his honorable discharge with a Purple Heart. Bob was a loyal member of the Union Lake Eagles, the Highland VFW Post, and the Highland Moose Lodge. As an avid motorcycle rider, Bob was a member of the Michigan Independent Riders Group (MIRG) and a founding member of the Moose Riders group. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. An inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
