Catherine M. Bulthuis (Spear), age 86 of West Bloomfield, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Chester; loving mother of David (Amy), Peter (Martina), Gretchen (Al), John (Christine) and Christopher (Jennifer); proud grandmother of 11; sister of the late Jane Irwin. Catherine was a native of Detroit, attending Mackenzie High and Wayne State University, where she was in the theater program. She was a great lover of all the arts, and enjoyed drawing and painting for many years. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd., White Lake. The family will receive visitors from 10 in the morning until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The Detroit Institute of Art.
